Libraries

Norfolk Collegiate is home to two libraries, the Spainhour Family Library at the lower school and the Stanton Library at the middle and upper school.

SPAINHOUR FAMILY LIBRARY
The Spainhour Family Library holds more than 20,000 volumes on our shelves and offers access to a variety of print and online materials for our pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 students. In addition to supporting the curriculum at each grade level, the library is used as a resource for in-class assignments, research projects and reading for pleasure.

The Spainhour Family Library is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the school year with the exception of early dismissal days, when it closes at 1 p.m.

STANTON LIBRARY

The Stanton Library serves our middle and upper school students from the second floor of the school. Not only does the library serve to support and enrich the curriculum to help students become effective users of ideas and information, it also fosters a life-long love of reading in our students.

To prepare our students for the challenges of conducting research in a technologically advanced society, our library offers print and electronic sources. It's home to more than 10,000 volumes and offers access to thousands of periodicals and electronic reference sources through its collection of database subscriptions.

Our librarian also collaborates with teachers to integrate research techniques and information seeking skills across all areas of the curriculum. Additionally, a number of book clubs and other reading programs are available to encourage our students to discover their literary tastes. The Stanton Library also offers several computers and a green room for student use.

The Stanton Library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday during the school year. On early dismissal days, the library will close at 1 p.m.
